Questions
Honest answers to the things leaders worry about.
Below you will find answers to the questions we hear most often. If something you are wondering about is not covered, send a quick message and we will respond personally.
Good questions welcome
No jargon required
You do not need a finance background to ask thoughtful questions about your numbers.
Getting started
Before you join a cohort.
These questions cover whether the academy is right for you, what you need to participate and how the material is delivered.
Who is the academy designed for?
The program is built for founders, general managers, COOs and other leaders who feel responsible for financial outcomes but do not come from an accounting background. Many participants already work with accountants and want to be better prepared for those conversations.
Do I need to be based in Australia?
Most examples and references are based on Australian businesses, tax timings and payroll rules. Leaders from other regions are welcome, but the content will feel most tailored if your organisation operates in or closely with Australia.
What tools or reports do I need?
You only need access to your recent profit and loss and cash reports, usually from your accountant or cloud accounting system. You can export them as PDF or spreadsheet files. No special software is required beyond a browser and video call access.
Is this the same as bookkeeping training?
No. The academy does not teach you how to do bookkeeping or lodge tax returns. Instead, it focuses on how to interpret the numbers so you can make better decisions and ask more useful questions of your finance team.
Time and workload
Fitting the program into real life.
Leaders are busy. These answers explain how much time you need to allow and what happens if you fall behind.
How many hours per week should I plan for?
Most participants allow two to three hours per week. This usually includes one 75-minute live session plus time for short videos and worksheets. Some weeks may require a little more time if you want to dive deeply into your own numbers.
What if I need to miss a session?
All live calls are recorded. If you miss a session you can watch the recording and complete the exercises when it suits you. You can also submit questions in advance so they are addressed during the call.
Can I pause and rejoin a later cohort?
If your situation changes unexpectedly, we will work with you to find a solution. In many cases you can shift to a later cohort so that you can complete the path without unnecessary pressure.
Will my team be able to follow along?
Yes. Many leaders bring a finance manager, operations lead or co-founder. The language is intentionally simple, so people with different backgrounds can share the same view of the numbers and participate in decisions.
Money and outcomes
Investing time and fees wisely.
These questions focus on price, return on investment and what you can realistically expect to change after the program.
How much does the program cost?
Pricing depends on the cohort format you choose and how many people attend from your organisation. Solo and small team options have transparent, fixed fees. Larger in-house cohorts are priced based on group size and level of tailoring. You can request current pricing on the Cohort formats page.
What outcomes can I reasonably expect?
You will leave with a repeatable cash view, a clearer picture of profitable and risky work, simple scenario templates and a one-page leadership update. Most leaders report feeling calmer about their numbers and more confident in conversations with boards, banks and teams.
Is there homework between cohorts?
Yes, but it is always practical. Instead of abstract exercises, you apply each concept to your own reports. The goal is to make visible progress on understanding your own business, not to complete tests or exams.
Do you offer private consulting?
The academy itself is focused on group learning. In some situations we can connect you with trusted consulting partners for deeper one-on-one support, but this is separate from the program fees and entirely optional.
